Your Creativity – Our Supplies!

Archive for September, 2011

What’s the latest going on? Autumn, School, Open Studios….

Well, we’re gearing up again for the students – welcome back, Cal-Poly!   To help the students get their supplies easily, we’ll have e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d store hours next week!   10am – 7pm this Monday thru Saturday, Sept 19th – 24th!

If you haven’t had an opportunity to see Glynis Chaffin-Tinglof’s magnificent exhibit in our gallery, please hurry in – we’ll only be able to enjoy it here until the end of this month!

We will NOT have an Art After Dark evening next month – I want to be able to go see the 6×6 Preview show at Arts Obispo, and actually be able to enjoy seeing friends and fellow artists!   Over 230 artists are participating in Open Studios Art Tour this year.  Dates are:  October 15th & 16th in South County, October 22nd & 23rd in North County, and Countywide Encore weekend is October 29th & 30th.  All weekends time:  10am – 5pm.   For more info and a free online catalog, visit   Please support our Arts Council – they support us!!!

We will have Open Studio here at the store… I will be here, along with Deborah Hobbs and Sheryl Knight.   All three of us will be here working during South County weekend; and Deborah and I will be participating in Encore weekend here, as well.  Additionally, all three of us will have an expanded selection of work on exhibit for the entire month.

We are slowly increasing our offering of artist-candy (!)  … I’ve gotten in some great how-to books, some creative & fun children’s products, a greater selection of linen on board & linen stretched canvas in small sizes, etc.   After months of waiting, Wallis museum-grade pastel paper finally arrived – and we have pads and 2 different sizes of sheet stock.   The promotions on holiday gift sets and easels have started, and if you’re thinking about putting something like this on your holiday “wish list”, these incentives will be going on for a couple of months… the manufacturers start early!!!   I’ll be buying an assortment of things I think are nice, but I welcome wish-lists, and if you want to look and see what’s available, just stop in!

Just had a conversation with a favorite artist of mine who stopped in to pick up a couple of things, and she requested a larger size archival print sleeve than what I have – (the largest we stock is 24×36 right now) – I thought it a reasonable request – I’m going to pick up a package of 30×40’s – sound good?  With my gorgeous new flat files, I’ll actually have someplace to put them!!!

Please remember to look at our “Workshops & Classes”, our “Local Exhibits” and our “Artist Opportunities” sections – I update those regularly without posting them as a new blog, so unless you go & look, you won’t see the latest!  And if you have something for me to add, e-mail me at!

Teachers – please let me know what your needs are so I can keep the right products in stock for your students!

And last, but certainly not least, check out our CLEARANCE table – Sometimes it’s discontinued, sometimes it’s imperfect, sometimes it’s overstocked, sometimes I’m just in the mood to put something on there because it feels good to offer a deal…   but it’s ALWAYS a bargain!!!   Right now there are some sketch pads, some pastel sets, blank greeting card packs, and more!

Classes and Workshops – UPDATED REGULARLY!!!

Please note – Since I get in new opportunities every day, I won’t put a new post each time I add them – otherwise all of you subscribers would be getting an e-mail notification daily!   So be sure to scan thru the opportunities whenever you check in with us!   And if you want me to add something, PLEASE limit it to 2 or 3 sentences, including your contact info.  Thanks!  E-mail me your info at, and I’ll add it as quickly as I can.   Thanks – etty
