A Year Older, a year wiser…

Hi!  First of all, a VERY heartfelt thank-you-SO-much! to those of you who came to our 1st Anniversary Event…  It was such a success – and we hope that you enjoyed it!  I know that our manufacturer’s reps really enjoyed showing off their products to everyone, and although Lauren, Logan, Tara and I never stopped running around all day, we all agreed that it was a lot of fun.  Give me a few more days to catch my breath, and I’ll be ready to start planning another event!

One of the things I had put on the back burner until the Anniversary Event was behind me was the creation of a workshop & class schedule.  Some of you teachers have already told me that you would be interested in teaching here.  If you are interested, but haven’t let me know, please do!  I’ll be sending out an e-mail outlining my ideas to all interested parties.  Once we have something in place, we can start advertising it to our customers!

Another thing I’d like to do is to have a “demo” day – something to show off artists’ skills with particular products, as well as the ability to explain how to use them.  I have some ideas for supplies to do demos with, but I am looking for talented artists to show them off – anybody interested?  Please e-mail me if you would like to participate.

Hopefully you saw our Call for Artists for our April Gallery exhibit  “Fur, Feathers & Fins”.    Second Chance at Love Humane Society is a wonderful organization, and we are excited about the opportunity to help them raise funds.  Please remember – ANY animal art is great – doesn’t have to be canine, and sculpture is welcome!

We hope to see you soon!

Call For Art!!!

Fur, Feathers and Fins

An Animal Art Exhibition benefiting Second Chance at Love Humane Society

Exhibit runs April 5th – May 1st.  Artists Reception Friday, April 6th, 6-8pm.

Where: Art Central Gallery, 1329 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo
Take in day: April 4th, 10am-4pm.   $10 entry fee per art work.

Second Chance at Love is a no-kill animal welfare organization, founded in 1994 for our society’s dog outcasts, “widowed” senior citizen dogs, and dogs without leaders or advocates. While the shelter primarily works with dogs, we encourage artists to enter all animal related artwork.

Art Central Gallery will be hosting a benefit for Second Chance at Love for the month of April. We want YOUR fur, feather and fin inspired art. Sales from the show will be a 50/50% split between artist and Second Chance at Love.

Artists Reception is Friday, April 6th, 6-8pm. Artist participation at Art After Dark is strongly encouraged – and PLEASE bring your animal loving friends too.

In order to know how many artists wish to participate, we require advance “sign-up”… this is easy – just e-mail us at  artcentral1329@yahoo.com with basic info about your art – medium, size, etc. We’d love to have jpegs for advertising purposes too – feel free to include those!

Please note that all 2-dimensional work MUST be wired for hanging. Paintings must be ready to hang with wire across the back; we cannot accept any sawtooth hangers.

If you have any questions, please e-mail us!

Unsold work must be picked up May 2nd, 10am-4pm.

We look forward to your participation!

Lisa Roberts added a lovely selection of mosaic pieces to the gallery. Her work was a hit at the “Little Treasures” show in December.

Hilda Vandergriff has brought to the gallery her colorful watercolor, acrylic and mixed media collage paintings. In her watercolor paintings she uses bold colors and loose washes. Hilda incorporates eastern and western art techniques into her mixed media art.

…and last but FAR from least!  Sally Tippman’s Figurative abstract paintings show fascinating forms and beautiful compositions of grace and drama.
