Eileen Braun is a native of Massachusetts. Her formal arts training began at C. W. Post College (Long Island New York) and continued at Indiana University (Bloomington) where she was awarded a B. A. degree in Sculpture and Education. Her ceramics training was acquired at local Arts Centers and Regional Workshops. Ms. Braun has taught in public schools, served as Executive Director of a suburban New York Arts Center, and also has experience as a Museum Gift Buyer and Manager. Ms. Braun completes the majority of her work in her Atlanta, Georgia home studio.

Watercolor Demonstration, Saturday, May 19, 2012, 11am to 3pm
Chris Van Winkle is past president of the National Watercolor Society, signature member of NWS, Watercolor West, Transparent Watercolor Society of America. His paintings have won many awards and are in collections across the nation. He is a retired art instructor from Citrus College, Glendora, CA, where he taught for thirty years. Chris has led painting workshops through Europe, Russia, and Canada.
11 AM Chris will demonstrate Plein Air Techniques for the watercolorist: speed sketching, wet glazing, and negative painting.These special skills make scene painting more efficient, and the work go a little quicker.
12 NOON The second session will concentrate on Color Exercises that enliven art: the use of high intensity contrasts, exciting transitions of temperature, complements and their beautiful neutrals.
1 PM A repeat of the Plein Air Techniques.
2 PM A repeat of the Color Exercises
Using these skills and the color notes, Chris will develop small paintings from local sketch book studies.
Chris will be demonstrating with Jack Richeson brushes, paints and paper. He has used Richeson materials for many years and finds them highly suited for plein air work.The Jack Richeson Company is an American manufacturer of fine art products in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Art Central is proud to make Richeson products available for artists here on the Central Coast.
