Looking for Teachers!

Greetings Fellow Artists,

Do you have a technique that you would like to share with others? Are you a teaching artist?  Would you like to promote yourself and your art?  If so, this is for you!

We are looking for artists/teachers interested in leading workshops here at Art Central on Saturdays.  We are happy to accommodate any date for your workshop except the following which are unavailable: Nov. 9, Nov. 23, Nov. 30, Dec. 14, 21, 28.

You choose the topic, the time on Saturday* (between 10-5), number of participants, fee, supply list, etc.  A two day workshop- Friday/Sat. is also possible.  (On the first Friday of the month we participate in Art After Dark, so on those days the workshops need to be completed by 1pm.)  The classes should be designed for mature teens to adults.  Participants register and pay you directly.  (*note – if you wish to teach a weekday class, we’re ok with that, too!)

We supply the space for a nominal fee of $5 per hour (3 hour minimum).  We are happy to order materials for your students.   We will also advertise on our blog, facebook and in the store.

If you would like to teach a class, please contact us with your topic and desired date.  (Please give us a secondary date as an option.)  Some ideas:  painting techniques-oil, acrylic, watercolor, figure drawing, landscapes, pastels, block printing, silk painting, drawing, mixed media, paper making, pen & ink …sky is the limit. What’s your talent?

Let us know so we can sign you up as dates are given on first come/first serve basis.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

CALL for Artists! August Show: “FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING”

Thanks to everyone who e-mailed in ideas and suggestions – there were two really super popular titles – one was the above, & the other was “Go Figure”!

I couldn’t decide, so I flipped a coin!

The first person who responded with the title “Figuratively Speaking” will get the free entry, and I’ll let her know by e-mail.  For the rest of you that came up with that title, I’ll give you a special price on your entry for this show.

We are looking for your spectacular artwork for this show – be it portraiture, or a skeleton, a solitary figure or a whole crowd – what can you share with us?  We look forward to your participation!

To download the entry form for this exhibit, please click here: Figuratively Speaking 2013

thank you!

PS – Remember – Please let us know that you’ll be entering something in the show by e-mailing us at, and if you can, send us a jpeg to use in our advertising!

our August exhibit is…

I couldn’t really come up with a great title, and I could use some help here!

The idea is to have a show about figurative art, but I want artists to feel really free about how they approach it.  So the lame title that I gave it… “Reverse Portraiture”, doesn’t truly convey what I want it to.  I am hoping to get really inventive figurative work, whether it is realistic or abstract, an X-ray, a macro-view – the possibilities are just endless!  But can you help give us a title that will make more sense than mine?

If we pick your title, you won’t pay an entry fee for this show!

(Incentive?  Bribery? !)

Please e-mail us at with your suggestion!  We need it this week, please!

Thanks –
